This day was one of a number of days that we spent mostly sitting in the truck, making our way to a wine farm in Cederberg. We stopped once for some shopping and coffee, where I very successfully introduced carrot cake to some of our group members, sparking an increase in carrot cake sales along the route we were about to take. We also stopped for lunch on the side of the road, attracting the attention from some workers and sheep in the surrounding fields. Setting up and cleaning up lunch for 22 people, does not work well if all 22 of them start scrambling around at the same time, so every time a limited number of people would take care of the different tasks. I did wonder if this validated for our onlookers the apparent practice that seemed to prevail locally of having a few people work on a task while others are watching.
When we arrived in Cederberg, I decided to skip the wine tasting and went for a hike around the fields in the surroundings to stretch my legs. After dinner around a campfire, I did join some others to the bar at the campsite and got myself some sparkling wine, which was about as close to glamping as I would get during this trip.
